Restorations
Roberto Pioli Bass (1915)
|
Roberto Pioli
worked in Reggio Emilia, Italy in the early 20th century and was
perhaps the most famous guitar maker of his time, but was also
commended for his double-basses. |
This bass I
purchased for myself a few years ago, but it needed a little work. |
The end-pin
block was coming off causing the lower rib to collapse. |
Once I removed
the top, I re-did most of the cleat work inside, re-fit the end-pin
block, fixed a few rib cracks, fixed damaged wood around the edges, and
since the neck was a little loose, reset the neck. |
Afterwards,
I put on a new fingerboard and c-extension, set it up with brass
adjusters in a new bridge and put on a nice ebony tail-piece. |
I now have the
pleasure of playing it regularly and it sounds and plays beautifully. |
